Understanding Headaches & Muscle Tension
Not all headaches are migraines.
Many people experience:
• Tension headaches
• Stress-related head pressure
• Tightness in the forehead
• Jaw or neck-related discomfort
• Shoulder and trapezius tightness
These types of headaches are often linked to chronic muscle contraction in the:
•Forehead
• Glabella (between the brows)
• Temporalis
• Masseter
• Trapezius muscles
When these muscles remain constantly activated, they can contribute to pressure and discomfort.
How Cosmetic Botox® May Help
Botox® works by temporarily relaxing targeted muscles.
When used cosmetically to soften lines in the:
• Forehead
• Frown lines
• Crow’s feet
• Jawline
• Trapezius (shoulder area)
…it may also reduce muscle tension in those same areas.
For some patients, this muscle relaxation can result in:
• Reduced tension-type headaches
• Decreased pressure in the forehead
• Relief from shoulder or neck tightness
• Fewer stress-triggered headache episodes
Again — this is not a migraine treatment protocol, and results vary from person to person.
Important Clarification
At Posh Medical:
• We do NOT perform the FDA-approved chronic migraine injection pattern
• We do NOT inject Botox® into the scalp
• We do NOT treat neurological migraine conditions
• We provide cosmetic Botox® only
If you suffer from chronic migraines, you should consult a neurologist or primary care provider for medical migraine treatment.
Trapezius Botox® (“Trap Tox”)
In addition to cosmetic facial areas, we also offer trapezius Botox® for aesthetic contouring and muscle relaxation.
By softening the trapezius muscles, patients may experience:
• Improved shoulder contour
• Reduced neck tension
• Relief from posture-related tightness
Some individuals notice fewer tension-related headaches after trapezius treatment, particularly if their headaches are triggered by shoulder or neck strain.
What to Expect
Cosmetic Botox® treatments:
• Take 10–20 minutes
• Require minimal downtime
• Begin working within 3–5 days
• Reach full effect in about 10–14 days
• Last approximately 3–4 months
Headache improvement, when it occurs, typically follows the same timeline.
Results vary. Not all patients experience headache relief.
